Family Dinner with an Ostomy

This is the time of year when eating healthy seems to be the hardest for me.  All those wonderful home cooked meals, pumpkin desserts, and family gatherings make sticking to a healthy plan that much harder.  I have found that the only way I can get healthy food on the table for myself and my family is to plan ahead and build up some menus.  I love that I can find so many recipes online!  I am going to share some of my favorite websites with all of you, these are great sources of healthy recipes that are delicious, and many of them are perfect for a variety of health conditions.  I would love to hear from all of you, what are some of your favorite healthy fall recipes?

My favorite healthy recipe websites:

American Heart Association Approved Recipes

Mayo Clinic Healthy Recipes

Cooking Light Holiday Cookbook

For a lot of people, holiday meal time can be stressful, because of health issues, dexterity has become a problem, and they can't just eat by themselves anymore, not without some extra help.  My Granny loves the different eating and drinking aids I bring home for her.  They have helped her eat by herself again, even after her stroke.  My Granny is a strong and independent woman, it is a joy to see her able to feed herself again without getting frustrated or embarrassed because of spills.  This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for my family, and I am very thankful that we will be able to sit around my table and eat food that makes us healthy and strong with tools that make all of us independent and able to enjoy the meal together.
