Suction machine supplies include the suction machine itself as well as the products used in conjunction with the appliance. These parts include suction catheters, collection containers, bacteria filters, and more. Regularly cleaning and replacing your supplies when needed will keep your suction machine in good working condition.

Suction machines are used to remove substances such as blood, saliva, mucus, and vomit from a person's airway. They create negative pressure to draw fluid out of the body. A clear airway makes it easier to breathe. Suction machines are often used by tracheotomy and laryngectomy patients. Some aspirators are stationary, while others are portable. The stationary models are typically found in hospitals and ambulances, but they can also be used in people's homes. Portable models are smaller and more compact, making them ideal to use while traveling.

A suction catheter is the thin hollow tube that is inserted into the airway. It connects to the end of the medical tubing and helps extract fluid from the airway. The opposite end of this tube connects to the collection container. There are different types of suction wands available, including a yankauer suction tip and a chimney valve. A yankauer tip is slightly bent to easily access the airway. This type of suction catheter also prevents the mouth and throat tissue from being damaged. A chimney valve has a large raised opening for maximum air flow. The chimney valve also has a thumb control for easier handling.

Collection containers are plastic canisters that hold the fluid that is removed from the airway. The canister and suction catheter connect to one another via medical tubing. The collection containers include a lid with a small stem at the top which is where the tubing connects. Most suction machine canisters have numbers printed on the outside to measure how much fluid is extracted from the airway. Although suction machines include a canister, we also sell replacement containers separately.

Suction machine filters prevent fluids, bacteria, and other contaminants from entering and damaging the pump. They get connected to the medical tubing about halfway between the suction catheter and collection container. The suction filters prevent fluid backflow without reducing suction. Bacteria filters last around two months before needing to be replaced. However, they may need to be changed sooner if you notice any fluid leaking from the filter.
